Millennials – and their “feedback” on New Hampshire
New Hampshire and the Lakes Region’s quality of life consistently ranks as the best in the nation. The Granite State is home to cutting edge businesses, abundant natural resources, high-performing educational institutions, and a can-do attitude that is ready for any challenge. This may sound like hyperbole but check out national quality of life indicators, New Hampshire is always in the top ten and many times #1 in the nation!
However, we have an aging workforce, skill gaps in many industries, and high student debt among other challenges. With this background, I was excited to attend the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce’s recent lunch workshop focused on our next generation of talent – Millennials – and their “feedback” on New Hampshire’s good and bad characteristics. The statewide young professional organization, Stay Work Play, commissioned a survey this past year to gather data from this segment of our population and the findings are informative and educational for employers, policymakers, community leaders, and all Granite Staters. Will Stewart, Stay Work Play Executive Director, presented the survey’s findings and I invite you to check it out. I am sure you will learn something new about the Millennial generation’s goals and aspirations and an important segment of New Hampshire’s workforce now and in the future.
